Will Engine 3 ever be able to handle concurrent requests? Currently it is capped at 1 request at a time. With an average proc time of 11 seconds. That will end up being a serious bottleneck in my ecosystem.
Is there a projected release date for Engine 3? If it ever gets released - will it still only allow 1x request at a time?
As requested, we increased the Engine 3 concurrency limit at least somewhat from 1 to 2 for all PRO/PRO PDF accounts. The concurrency limit for Engines 1/2 remains at 5 as before. The free ocr api plan remains at a concurrency limit of 1 for Engine3 and 2 for Engines 1/2.
Engine 3 processing time: This is a tricky issue. We are working on improving this further. We should be able to cut it at least in half, but we are not there yet.
Fixed As of today, the OCR Engine PRO/PRO PDF plans includes 5 concurrent requests for OCR Engine3. So it is now the same as for Engine1/2.
Just note that there is still a difference in monthly conversion limits between Engine 1/2 and Engine3, as Engine3 requires significantly more compute resources for each image-to-text conversion.
The Free Plan includes 2,500 conversions for Engine3 in addition to the 25,000 for Engine1/2.
The PRO/PRO PDF plans include 30,000 conversions for Engine3 in addition to the 300,000 for Engine1/2.
