API key leaked – how to reset or disable it in OCR.space?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently using the free OCR.space API, and unfortunately my API key was exposed.

I noticed that the old key is still working, so I’m concerned that someone else might be using it.

I would like to ask:

  1. Is there any way to reset or regenerate the API key within the same account?

  2. Is it possible to disable or revoke an old API key?

  3. If not, what is the recommended way to handle a leaked API key?

I tried signing up again and received a new API key, but I’m not sure if the old one is still active.

From what I found, it seems that the free plan does not support changing or deactivating API keys, and the only option is to create a new account (Ui.Vision, AI & OCR Community Forums)

Can anyone confirm if this is correct, or suggest a better solution?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for asking. You can simply ignore leaked free ocr api keys. Since they are free, we do not mind if they get used by someone else. Ad since we do not store any data, nobody has access to any documents or data even if they gained access to your old api key.

I tried signing up again and received a new API key,

Great. This is the recommend way to get a new, fresh api key

For PRO/PRO PDF accounts: Users can request a new api key at no cost.
